My question is how much should a grown silkie roo eat?

And

How much should a Full grown Silkie Hen eat?

I ask this because I feel like my chickens are eating me out of house and home..LOL

I'm just wondering what is the correct amount to feed one chicken?

1 cups 2 cups???

Most people give their chickens free choice feed. A standard size chicken eats 1/4 to 1/3 pound of feed per day. A 50 pound bag would last you about three months. At even $15.00 a bag, that's only about a dollar week.

My two dogs, with a combined wieght of 90 pounds don't eat that much! :eek:We have 49 chickens that free range and we go through 200 pounds a month.

All together I have 15 chickens...I have 6 roos and 5 hens. I have 1 3 month old chick and 3- 5 week old chicks.

I buy 50lbs EVERY month and there is None left within 30 days or so. Are they eating too much???

I guess I didn't look at you sig. line before I answered you the first time. 50# for 2 chickens would be a bunch! For 15 chickens, you are getting by cheap.

LOL, Really?

Forgot to add they are eating 50lbs of corn 25lbs of laying mash and 25lbs of chick starter and grower and about 10lbs of grit.

So that isnt too much that is fine? I usally have some laying mash and chick starter and grit left over does me about a little over 40 to 45 days but since the cold weather I fly by a 50lbs bag of corn in 30 days or less.

Cut back on the corn and feed more layer. It is a more efficient feed. We also found we have less waste with pellets instead of mash. We only give corn/scratch as a treat.

Ok I have 32 chickens and i go through 100lbs in 8 days so am i feeding to much? i fill the feeders in the morning and by 4pm the food is gone... so when i go to get eggs...they all follow me ..so i give them a lil more food?
is this to much?

thanks

Ok i'll try that...I just heard corn was good through the winter cause it builds up their body heat. So i have been giving them corn istead of the mixed grain feed I feed them all spring/summer.
