Hi, do both of these breeds when in battery life for one year old still lay eggs after. I want to buy some hens that those guys who use them for egg production in battery life sell them after one year old. How many will they lay after and for how long. Thanks

Yes, they will still lay after battery life, but they will probably take a good long pause while adapting to life outside a battery cage. Battery hens should still be good layers for a couple of more years but they may be seasonal layers, taking a break in winter. No way to know how many eggs they'll lay but good care and good nutrition will help.

My rescued ISAs laid from the day we got them until the day they died despite being in poor physical shape. However, be aware that these birds were bred specifically to be high production, short lives. They are likely to suffer from laying issues as they age & most won't have long lives.
