Yesterday morning when I went to the coop to check on the girls and tidy-up, one was in the nesting box doing her thing. I decided to come back later to do chores rather than bother her. Could I have gone ahead and worked in the coop or did I do the right thing coming back later? And yes, there was an egg:) We have 2 consistently laying now.

That really depends on the individual hen. Some won't care, and others won't lay in that area again for ages if they've been disturbed there.

In my case I usually do the poop patrol and tidying up in the morning before work, there's normally 1 or 2 eggs already laid and some hens will be in the nests to lay eggs. They seem to get not bothered at all, since that is the daily routine I do.

Agrees it's the individual hen..and what they're used to.
I try to spend a good amount of time in the coop at different times of the day so they get used to me being in there.
Whether it's to clean up or build/change parts of the coop structure, they don't seem to mind, especially if I might give a treat once in awhile.

This morning I popped my head into the coop to clean it, and as there often is, there was a hen in the nest. Well she stood up and started chattering at me, so we had a conversation. I love talking to them. Well, while we were talking, she just popped an egg out and walked away. I think she was a little annoyed with me. Lol
