I realized last night that the feed I was giving my adult layers was Start-N-Grow with amp. The feed store loaded 2 bags in my car while I was paying for my order, and I did not check behind them. They have been eating it for about a week now. What effect, if any will this have on my eggs? Should I stop using the eggs, and if so for how long until it is out of their system? I immediately discontinued using this feed, and will give it to my guineas who are not laying right now, instead. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Janet:(

I think it tells you on the baag to discontinue one week before using eggs. I think the worst is that the medication may go into your system and if you are allergic...well. Otherwise it is such a miniscule amount, we finished it up anyway when the hens started to lay. What you don't want to do is dilute it...like cross mix it with unmedicated. You kill off the lesser bacteria and leave the really strong harmful ones to take over. Sort of like when a human doesn't finish his/her medication and then comes down 2 weeks later with a super infection.
It looks like you came up with a good solution anyway. Sounds good to me.
