Question about my broody hatch

I have a broody sitting on some eggs. When I went down today I noticed one of the eggs was cracked open and there was no longer anything in it. I could see yellow that got on the chips. My question is do you think my broody did this cause, there was something wrong with the egg? I am just wondering if this is something broodies do when a baby is not growing. I am wondering if it was the broody or one of my other birds sneaking in and doing this.

Yes, they will do this. Somehow they can feel or sense if an embryo is developing and those that do not, they will eliminate. It's normal and natural.
