Question about my geese.....

My wife an I have recently gotten a pair of geese and they are doing good. They are eating we keep their pool clean and we go out and socialize with them every day and handle them to be sure they remain friendly. So this evening I was out socializing with them and I noticed that one of our girls has a little pouch under her bill. Its no very big but just enough to be noticable. I held her and she didnt seem to be in pain or any distress. I am just concerned about seeing it and I would like to know if I hsoul dbe worried or if I am just being a new parent and worrying about nothing. Thanks in advance!

Hi Rick, how old are the geese and do you know what kind the are? Do you have a picture you can post?

Some breeds get a dewlap....dependent upon the breed it may be totally normal.

hi there are you sure its a girl? my male the gander is a male and has that under his too. i think you' girl' is actually a boy!!!!

oh how pretty! Is she/he an African? i think some Africans have dewlaps but has nothing to do with the sex -- only the breed. looks VERY healthy and beautiful.

I honestly dont know what breed I have. I know that the pair of them were hatched at the same time and they are the sweetest. They love their pool the best though. I got them from a CL ad that was right around the corner from my place. They like to be handled and I hope that goes a long way in keeping them friendly.

. We got them about a week before we got our chickens.
