i have always wondered this...are there others that slow cook their turkey overnight, or am i the only one? is it REALLY a danger? i have always cooked it this way and its always been fine but on another board that i post on, my post was deleted in the recipe section because they were afraid of it making people sick.

it should, i would think..i stuff it and throw it in there at about 250 or so..we usually get a 20+ pound turkey since our kids eat like locusts, and if i were to wait until thanksgiving to start cooking it, it would take till that evening i think.
i mean, WE have never gotten sick but i wonder if we have just been lucky all these years.

I'm not sure what would get you sick about that. Maybe people are worried about it not cooking through at only 250 degrees.

Ask anyone here who smokes and you'll find we slow cook/smoke at 220 degrees for hours. When I make jerky I'll set my oven on 180 and cook it overnight.

I'd happily eat your turkey. Send me a sandwich.

The $.88 cents per pound turkeys at the grocery store this morning were calling my name. Trouble is I've got five live ones calling my name right now. They want more food.
