First time chicken mom here! I have a silkie hen..well i have 4 hens and one roo..I am pretty sure 8 days ago my hen Mrs Hobbs laid a couple eggs and then stole everyone elses because shes sitting on 9 fertile eggs! I candled them and they are all perfect! My worry is can she hatch that many? I have food and water right beside her and she is eating and drinking, her eyes are bright and she seems happy and not wore down. Any info or advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

I had a super tiny silkie that sat on 9 eggs, full size and silkie size. They were barely fitting, but she still stole a couple more, making for 11! I didn't notice until a couple days later, so I stuck the newer ones in my incubator, so she had the original nine. Long story short, I had a pretty good hatch rate, and she did a fantastic time raising them.

I would make sure that she keeps eating and drinking, and getting up to walk around for a couple minutes each day or so. If you see any eggs have been pushed to the side, push it closer to her, so she can accept it if it accidentally rolled away, and push it away again if she rejected it for some reason. Other than that, I think she'll do fine.

Good luck on the hatch! :fl:jumpy
