Question about newborn-help PIC-graphic?

Yeah, that definitely sounds alive.

I wish someone who KNOWS about this stuff would give some ideas, but I know people use preparation H for inflamed tissue on chickie booties. I am not even going to suggest such a thing, but maybe if someone could tell more what it appears to be? Perhaps it does need to be shrunk a bit? I know you have to be terribly worried about her, especially as sweet as she sounds. I really hope she does alright.

If it ain't broke don't fix it! She is thriving right now and they are very chemical sensitive. She is so cute! But I couldnt really see the fuzzy part - just a tiny red line.

Okay... the chick is still thriving, eating and drinking.

Now how long would it take a chick with a clogged butt to die?
Because wouldn't it have been by now?

Way back when I had a few bantam chicks like this. On days 19 and 20 of the incubation, the egg yolk is completely absorbed into the chicks body. On her, it looks like the skin isn't completely closed around it yet. Nothing to worry about it if it isn't closed yet, as long as they are kept warm, it will typically close on it's own (if you leave it alone!). The chicks who had it with me hatched out late on day 20 instead of day 21 of the incubation. My suggestion, be sure she is warm, had food and water available, and just watch her. You don't want to trim anything, but you also don't want them to get caught on anything. I would suggest keeping her alone (or with one smaller chick) for a few days to be sure that it doesn't get pecked at. Use newspaper on the bottom of her brooder instead of paper towels.

Sound like you have a perfectly happy little girl. Just keep an eye on her and don't mess with it!

Thank you so much!
She is eating and drinking... and at the rate a chick poops she it would be going right through her. And if she was clogged I would think that she wouldn't have an appetite. She is with my banty mix, and they've been getting along and snuggling.
