We have two barred rocks, probably about 10 days old. they seem healthy, running around, eating. But they look kinda....drab compared to our other chicks. they aren't glossy or fluffy. they are getting in their wing feathers fine, so i am not too worried. Do barred rocks tend to look a little straggly and drab while they gett their feathers in? Also, personality-wise, (and I guess this is a separate question) they REALLY act differently compared to our white plymouth rocks. The white ones are so friendly, not skittish at all, and the barred ones are our most skittish chicks. Normal? What's odd is they are so curious, coming right up to the edge when we approach, seeming to want attention, but then they freak out when we bring them out to pet them.
also, second question. we have two RIRs same age, about 10 days old. One is very healthy, our largest chick, the other is quite a bit smaller, but still eating and healthy-seeming. Is it normal too have two of the same type of birds, same age, but quite different sizes?
Thanks!
