Question about "Packing Peanuts" chicks

So i'm getting 9 white silkies from Ideal. There suppose to be coming in next wednesday and i've heard about "packing peanuts" that are going to be in my shipment. I don't mind getting free chicks

but I had some questions about them.

1. Generally, what kind are they?



2. Are they all males? I would think since males are less desired , they would be more likely to be used as peanuts.

I got turkens and two of them turned out to be hens

They're "leftovers", hatched chicks that weren't ordered. Since more pullets are ordered than cockerels, you're more likely to get males.

But plenty of folks have been surprised
