Hello all!

I am in the final phases of building my chicken coop and will be working on nest boxes in a few days. I decided to buy two large plastic dishpans to put in the wooden nest boxes to make them easy to clean. Do you think I should drill some holes in the bottom of the pans to … I don't know eliminate excess moisture from the nests. Or is that an issue?

I'm very excited to finally be getting my own chickens! I

No that should not be an issue. If you put straw in it, that would absorb any little moisture that could be in there. The straw in my nest boxes (without any plastic liners) is perfectly dry at all times.

Good to know… thanks!

I'm obsessing about the details at this point. I admit it!

I hope to put pictures of my coop construction on sometime soon. I've been lurking here on BYC for several months, gathering information. There's a LOT of it eh?

I put the large dish pans from Walmart in mine. I did cut the front out a bit to make them easier to access. I plan on putting shavings or hay in mine. Haven't decided yet. My chicks are only 6 weeks old.
