Question about Polish

Has anyone out there had experience with trimming feathers around Polish chickens eyes so they can see better? If so, are there tips to doing it correctly? Does it make a difference? We have some that run into everything.

Yes I trim some of my polish. It's a 2 person job, one to hold the bird and the other to trim.

Sometimes it does not looking very pretty but it does the job of helping them see.

I start by trimming under the eye and going up, taking only a bit off at a time until you can see their eye.

Thank you for your reply. Will be trying today for sure! Have you found any problems with blood feathers around their eyes?

No I have never had trouble with blood feathers.
I generally just take the vane of the feather off and don't get down to the quill.

Polish chickens are stupid when they have their top hats. If they can't see, ours will literally walk into a wall! My fiancé and I trim their feathers about 1x a month.
