Question about posting pictures

Can anyone tell me if a 6 megapixel picture can be posted on this site and why it is telling me I can't?

A 6mega pixel image generally doesn't really go along with good nettiquite. You want to down size them to about 800 or 640 just to be nice to others who open the page that are not on fast internet.

Also, uploading a 6 mp image can take a while and then (if uploading it to the BYC image hosting ) it needs to be processed which can also take a while. You're better off cropping and shrinking the image before uploading.

If you need to post a large image to get all the detail you can host it at photobucket, but make sure you post just a simple link to the picture or a thumbnail on the forum so it doesn't take 10 minutes to load for dialup users.
