I hatched 14 turkey cross poults. How do turkey colors work?
#1 is gray in color with a white eye mask, I have 2 of them. #2 is black/brown with white eye mask, 2 of them. #3 is chipmunk, 8 of them, various shades. #4 is the grey/white chipmunk, 2 of them.
Will the grey ones develop into the slate color? What's with the funny eye mask?
I just haven't hatched turkey crosses before and don't know much about coloring in turkeys. I was wondering if some one could clue me in on the vocabulary and/or genetics of it all.
They are from a flock with a Narrangansett tom and a Bourbon Red tom. There hens are Royal Palm, Grey Slate and Bourbon Red.
