Question about Protein.

Quote:
Where I buy feed, they are a Purina dealer but they only carry Lavena, flock raiser and starter. They also carry Faithway feeds so I may try that. Speckledhen, have you ever used calf manna?

Calf mana is a supplement.. If I remember right you can feed up to 10% of there ration.
I believe there is no animal protein in it... I used it last year on some of my chickens but it has a lot of soybean meal in it.

If whant to add a animal protein to your feed you can add fish meal...
Buckeye and Kalmbach Feeds have meat meal in there feed..

I saw a show on RFD tv the other night. It was all about showing chickens and Purina feeds and they had three guys on from Purina.
They said that none of their feed contains animal protein.
If it does then they flat out lied.

I been reading all of this. I got Evergreen feed. It says nothing in the ingredients about animal protien. I think I will go down a country road tonight with a plastic coke bottle and a flashlight and catch mine some grasshoppers.

Yes, Purina Game Bird Feeds DO contain animal protein, according to the labels. Their Home Grown nonmedicated starter used to, but I recently read the label and it only mentions plant protein.

No, I have not used Calf Manna.
