Not sure if I'm doing this right, but here it goes. A quick quail question....
I've been raising quail now for about 5 years. Generally I put 1 male with 3-4 hens, and let them have at it. Never had any probs. good fertility and decent hatches. my question is about keeping the male separate, putting him in with hens to "do the deed" and removing him afterwards. How long does the male need to be in the cage with the hens to get the job done, and how often? This could be handy for very selective breeding...swapping out males to service the hens. Anyone keep thier quail breeders this way? Thanks in advance.
