So i live in Peru and looking to get some quail. I dont have any land and live in a Condo but have a rooftop available to only me. Looking to make a 5ft x 3 ft Cage with about 5 quails to start off. My main question is this... Can i eat The quails that produce eggs?
I ask this because i know some chickens produce eggs and others you raise for meat... not sure if its the same with quail!

Yes you can eat the egg layers if you want to. You can eat the egg laying chickens too, but there would be less meat than a dual purpose layer.

Usually what peeps with quail do is butcher the extra males. You'll do fine with 5 quail, 4 females, 1 male in your breeding cage.
You won't have any egg layers if you butcher them, at least not for long term. You can incubate the eggs, hatch chicks and have a continuous supply of eggs and meat.

Thanks for the help! That's what I was looking for! Also would they be fine if I had chickens in a cage about 10 ft away or would that upset them?

You don't want to raise gamebirds with, near or where chickens have been...Chickens carry diseases that they can tolerate but will kill gamebirds, like quail, pheasants, turkeys, etc. BIOSECURITY is the ultmost priority when raising gamebirds.
