Question about run

I'm building a good sized coop with a grand run. I want my girls to have plenty of room to roam and not end up in the neighbors yard. The run itself will be 30'x20'. It will also have a large tree right in the center of it. Due to the run size and the tree, I will not be enclosing the top of the run.

My question is how tall should I make the fence so the girls don't get out?

Well I guess that depends on the type of birds you have. I have banties and a 4ft high picket fence that encloses thier side of the yard for free ranging. BUT thier covered run (which is much smaller than what you have) is 8ft tall. I havent had a problem with my flock going over the fence. Hope someone with a little more experience can give you more answers.

Unless you clip their wings - with a run that large AND a tree in it - some are bound to get out.

Unless the tree is a huge monster; I personally would make the fence 6ft and enclose the yard over the tree with a net.
