question about shipped eggs!

This is my first time hatching eggs. I have seen on a few of the posts that there is a reasting period from shipment to bator. Can anyone explain why and for how long for me. I know it may be a silly question but as I said it's my first time. I have 7 silkie eggs and 12 mixed batam eggs that were shipped today! Thanks in advance.

I have read to let them rest any where from 4 to 24 hrs.

My completely ignorant opinion is base it on the temperature of the eggs when you get them. Eggs that have been out in 70 degree weather on a truck just need to settle about 6 hours. One that has been on a truck in the 40's needs an entire day to reach room temp. JMO
