Does anyone ship live chicks?

I am really worried about trying to. I would be sooooooo afraid to kill the little guys!

Do you do it? Do you only do certain ages? Do you only do during certain times of year because of heat?

How do you pack them?

Do you like one mail carrier over another?

How much does shipping usually run for them?

For live chicks, I think you have to get the chick shipping containers and then within a day of hatching, send them off. Else they won't have the yolk to last them the trip. Furthermore, if you're sending a small number, you'll probably have to add a heat pack to the box. Beyond the first few days, they would probably die in transit. If you wanted to ship adults, at least 2 months old I'd think, since they'd need to be big enough to not starve on a 1-2 day trip in a unheated box with only diced fruit and some feed in the bottom, you'd need to get some sort of certified shipping container. That's as far as my knowledge goes.
