For the past few days something has been cracking open the eggs my duck lays and just kinda leaves. Now today when I was checking up on my ducks I saw a squirrel in their pen, could he be the egg cracking culprit? I cant think of a reason why a squirrel would want to eat an egg but I havent seen any other type of animal in the pen. I dont want to spend my money on a squirrel trap if its not eating the eggs so I thought I'd ask you guys before I go to Tractor supply. thanks~

Yes squirrels can eat eggs. They are known to steal eggs from wild species as well. However, they are not the only potential egg stealing species.

Darn. I was hoping it was just there for the duck feed. I guess i'll try to capture the lil'guy then.

Do you have crows that ever get in with them? A few years ago I had a group of crows determined to crack open all of my mallard eggs.

Yikes that awful! Luckily the only other birds i've seen out there are those little house sparrows.
