I'm not exactly sure why you set a day for the incubation period.
So for quail I set the incubator for 14 days. And this is when I take the turning plate out, add more humidity and all that. Also unplug the turner.
But the incubator keeps running, right? Does it "do anything" on day 14? Or is that just another way to keep track of days.

I was also wondering what constitutes a day.
Does the display go by hours? So if I start my hatch Sat at 9 AM, will Sunday 9 AM be considered one day, or will the display flip to two days because it's the start of the second day?

The way I'm thinking on it, I could end up being a day short going into lockdown depending on when the machine flips to 14.

As Slightly Rednecked would say, If that makes sense.

You want the incubator to keep running on Day 14, just take the turner out. Some people count the day they put the eggs in as day 0, some as day 1. Luckily, the exact day that you take the turner out isn't a set in stone time. If you take it out on day 13 or day 15, you'll still get good results.

I just reread the instructions that came with the unit.

It talks of setting a 'hatch day".
And then it says
"When the days-to-hatch countdown reaches 3 days prior to hatch, the egg turned will will automatically stop turning the eggs and the egg turned indicator light will be OFF. This is a reminder to remove the egg turned from incubator base and to increase humidity."

So I guess I should set the hatch day for 17 days if it's automatically going to stop turning at 14 days.
Realizing that I might be a day off either way depending on how it counts.

A lot of youtuber reviews said to set it for 14 days, but those were older units.

BTW, the incubator is still reading higher than the Govee.
The Govee says 44% and the inc. says 51. I opened the vent all the way, which only opens it halfway, and will see if that brings it down a little.

In 45 minutes time, Govee 33%, inc. 41.
I can live with that. Either one for the first stage of incubation. But one of these days I am going to do that salt paste trick with the Govee.

As the old saying goes, "When all else fails, read the instructions.":lau
