question about welsummer chickens

I have a Welsummer Roo. He is kind of standoffish. His brother has babies on the ground. Born in October. From my limited Chicken experience, they seem not to be vigorous maters.

I have no knowledge base on the hens.

I know sumone with 4 pol hens and they lay at most one egg a day, between the 4 of them!
