Question about windows, cover with anything to prevent predators?

I was wondering if we need to cover our windows with anything other than a regular screen when they are open? If so, what do you cover them with? Also do you them cover them on the inside or outside? I was thinking about covering them on the inside with hardware cloth, but them I realized I wouldn't be able to open a close the windows.

I cover with hardware cloth. Which side depends on how the window opens. I like to be able to close the window in the winter without having to remove the wire. Kinda lazy on my part, but it works.

Our windows tilt outward . We open them from the outside. They are coverd with wire on the inside.

I would, almost everything enjoys a chicken dinner, it seems. We use hardware cloth.

1/2" Hardware cloth gets my vote also!!
