dh used wazine wormer on the chickens as a preventative before they really got started laying this year. the 2 week wait is nearly over but then I was reading about how eggs shouldnt be incubated for at least 30 days because it can cause horriable deformitys in the chicks. well I am going on 5 months pregnant, should I wait a while longer to eat the eggs myself, even if my dh and ds eat them? I already have a very difficult high risk pregnancy and dont want to do anything that could be harmfull in the slightest.

Honestly I have no idea, but if you even have to ask the question then the stress is not worth it. Watch the chickens and let others eat the eggs. Good luck with your pregnancy.

Babyblue, this is the type of post that made me go completely organic with my flock. If you have to ask the question then you already have problems. I got into raising my own birds after doing a tour of a commercial chicken house and the processing plant......................I stopped eating chicken for seven years. I have NO PROBLEM eating any chickens that I raise or any of their eggs at any given time and I LOVE that! Some call me crazy but if I'm not willing to eat it then I WONT sale it to someone. Oh and the same people that are calling me crazy are using medications that "can cause horrible deformity in chicks".....................go figure. I have over a hundred birds, never mass medicate, free range them all daily and last year I lost one hen to a sickness that I couldn't identify, I culled her for my own piece of mind and she might have pulled through. Why risk it though?

Verm-x is a natural dewormer with no withdrawl period. Eggs can be eaten while deworming. But being pregnant, I think I would just not deworm right now. Or if you must, like another poster said let others eat them and you wait just to be safe.

Im sorry I cant help, but the next time you worm you might want to use Ivomec. You only have to let the treated fowl lay 5 to 7 eggs..

Ivomec injectable is used for treatment of worms in your fowl, and can be used to help keep external parasites, like Red Mites down too.
You will need a syringe to get ivomec out of the bottle, and you can use it to apply the dosage listed below by holding the birds mouth open, and dripping it into the back of its throat. Another method is to apply the correct dosage to a piece of bread, then feed it to the bird you are treating.
5 to 7 drops orally for adult size birds.
3 to 5 drops orally for bantam size birds.
It is recommended to worm your fowl on a regular basis, and this method will need to be repeated every 2 to 3 months to keep worms under control. In severe cases, you may want to retreat the bird 10 days after the initial treatment, to make sure you take care of the problem.
Ivomec can be purchased at most farm supply stores in the cattle section.
Take care not to eat the eggs after treating with Ivomec until the treated fowl has laid at least five to seven eggs.
