Question abouts Araucana and Roosters

There is another rumpless/tailess breed called the Manx Rumpie - I'm not sure what they look like other than having no tail.

pwand,
What color is the chick. First picture looks like a Lavender or a white. The last picture looks like a buff colored bird.
Muffs and beards are easy to breed out. Rumpless is harder to get than a tailed bird. That's if you want to go Araucana type.
Good luck with him/her in your breeding program. Harry

Easter Egger..... but I'm not 100% convinced with those missing tail feathers.... never seen or heard of an easter egger being rumpless.
My Araucana have yellow legs.

The last picture didn't turn out right, it actually looks like it has a ting of grey to its color.

Lavender color is probably more the appropriate color.

pwand,
If that is the case you may have yourself a very rare color of Lavender. You will be able to tell when the new wing feathers come in. If the bird has a soft color of blue/grey and the feather shaft is white on the outside and dark on the inside it has two recessive genes with the Lavender trait. You breed it to a black and all the chicks will be black unless you have some siblings that are carrying the gene. If you are lucky and know who you got it from you may be able to obtain a few more. Thanks Harry, I have two other ones from this batch, however, the two other ones look a bit different, they have tails. One of them looks more white, and the other more light cream color. Here is some pictures of the other two. I will check out the feathers under neath on the other one.

pwand,
It really doesn't matter that the other two have tails. Araucanas seldom breed 100% show qaulity. Even if you breed rumpless to rumpless for 3 generations you will still get tailed birds.
The one you call cream will be somewhere between buff(very hard to get that color in Araucanas) to some type of red. Red pyle are very common and really hard to eradicate if you don't want that color. The other looked white with a few black spots so it may be a splash(when bred to black will give you 100% common blue chicks).
At looking at you picture you may have two pullets and one male(the grey one) but you will have to wait some yet. You will be able to tell about 3 months old when the males sex feathers come in on the neck and rump - they will be pointed especially on the rump which is more noticeable. Good luck at least you have a start with the rumpless gene. The other two that look like pullets do not show muffs or beards so you will have no problem eradicating the muff and beard genes. Everybody needs a starting point. Good luck and enjoy them and their colored eggs. Harry
