QUESTION: ducklings that peep when you leave them

Your babies are ADORABLE!! <3 We've had our two new additions since Saturday. They do the peeping thing when I leave the room, but when I first come into the room and come up to their "pen" they act like I'm going to attack and run to the furthest side.....until I sit down and start talking to them. Then they get all active...splashing in their water, eating their food (for some reason whenever they see me they LOVE to eat and drink) , but if I try to get one they totally flip out! LOL I think my babies might be a little bi-polar.

Mine are just over 2 weeks old now and they did do a little of the panic scramble thing when I would approach but now it's all rapid, excited peeps and they stand up tall looking at me and don't run away or to the corner anymore.
I love it when they get a sudden burst of energy, and race around together real super fast, all the while peeping... then just as suddenly they stop with that cute frisky look....usually just as the treat is presented LOL!

It sounds like a rapid drumming noise

It's like they get SOOOO excited at the prospect of a tasty tidbit that their little feet can't stay still!
I equate it to the "puppy crazies" my dogs used to get as babies....awwwww ----loved that!

They're going to be 5weeks this Saturday

! They're growing so rapidly that I notice something new about them everyday! They are turning a beautiful champaign gold color with white speckles on their wings. They still have some of their white down though. Ming-ming is the biggest and fattest runner I've ever seen! She's already starting to make a squeaky-quack!

Oh then mine are just a couple of weeks behind yours...I'm so enjoying them at this age. They grow so fast...but I'm excited to hear the first quack !

Hmmm...my Mallards are at least 6 weeks old & still no real quacking...they mostly still peep, or something similar to it. Does this mean something or are they just late quackers?

My almost-two-week-old Cayugas do this!! Last night, I went out for dinner with a friend so they didn't have the usually Mama tuck-in before bed. My husband went into the laundry room (where they are) and started the dryer....well, as expected that woke them up and the incessant peeping/whistling/quacking started. It went on for nearly TWENTY minutes before my husband went in, I heard panicked peeping, and then out he walks with them in his arms.....plops them into my lap in the recliner and they immediately start trying to climb me to sit on my shoulders and under my chin.

I think I may have a boy and a girl....one is significantly larger, quieter, and his "noise" sounds like a flute. This one is also the one who protects the other one and sleeps "spooning" her. The other one is smaller, with a much more high-pitched peep.

The excited dashing around is what I call the "zoomies,". Chicks do it too.

Sometimes my adult doxie gets the zoomies, which in his case I call the "daschund races."

My adult Toulouse geese also get the zoomies at least once a day. They start flapping their wings and honking and get up speed going across the yard and up (or down) the driveway. That could be a "pre-flight check" even though they never get more than six inches off the ground..

But I love the zoomies, yes I do!

Yes, they are

My IR are just on the cusp of making quacks/squonks and it is very endearing

Had my babies outside for the first couple times the last 2 days...they caught a case of the "zoomies" a couple times too...ran circles right around me...lol
