I am definetly going to start it out in the basement, since so many of you do the same.

I have a still air hovabator as well it is in the basement I've use it to hatch everything from leopard geckos to veiled chameleons , chickens, quail, and everything else that lays eggs and it works awsome!!!!
 
you can get a "turbo fan kit" for the Hova bator to make it a forced air machine.

they are made by gqf manufacturing and everybody resells and marks up their stuff, just google them

I've had reasonable success with it, I found I had a harder time controlling moisture.

Basements tend to be better as I found it couldn't handle much change in room temperature.

If temp does yoyo get a new wafer, they're cheap.
 
Christie, I have bought from both Cutlers and GQF. Actually GQF does not undercut their distributors by very much. The service at both was great. I have had to contact the tech support people at both places. Choose the one closest to you and save on shipping.

I don't envy you all those trips up and down stairs to the basement. I think you will find you Hova will require a bit more watching than the Sportsman especially at first.
