Question for experienced cattle people

It might be that the calf got under the electric fence and when it tried to get back it got zapped enough times that it won't come back across, and with it shut off it's reaching through and sucking off it's mom but it's not going to crawl through because that sure hurt when it tried before.

It sounds like the mom can't get on the other side of the electrical fence though but baby can? The baby does not know to hide itself right? So I think you would be able to see the baby by the fence line.

No, the mom can't get thru the fence but the baby could. Katy said her calves will go under the fence and hide themselves. I don't have any prior experience with them to know what they'll do. I just opened another pasture for them this morning that is fresh. This mom is the only one who ran around the fence line so I'm hopeful that she's looking for the way out to maybe feed the baby.

The others couldn't care less, they have lots of new spring grass. I did leave the gate open so she can go out if needed.
