I work in a hardware store, and today we were discussing whether or not drill bits are made in metric sizes. So, for those of you who live where the metric system reigns, are your drill bits metric or do you have numbered bits?

Good question..

metric work very well and is often much simpler. The trick is to not convert the system that the us uses into a metric system. It would so rather work with metric, It would make travel so simple.

A complete drill index contains American Standard, metric and numbered bits, and costs a few hundred dollars. I'm sure most serious machinists possess one.

Yes there are metric drill bits here in the good ol' USA. And metric bolts and nuts too. Trucks, cars, and 18-wheelers are held together by metric and American standard. Now lets talk hydraulic sizes and fittings...................

I had a quick look and here in the UK we have them in metric, inches, and numbers - sometimes all three are given!
