Question for those around DC and area. Didn't get it this time

Fauquier county is such a beautiful area - ...do you live in the country? What gorgeous horse country and some of those nice old houses... WOW!!

From what I gather it's M - F, unless there are meetings or trips on the weekend. I would be working with the Dept. of Educ. overhauling NCLB and trying to come up with other ways to help our students succeed or help the US catch up with other countries that are so far ahead of us. I'm hoping to be chosen for the Science area, but if they'll take me I'll take anything!

I live in Burke, VA and ride the metro bus every day to work to DC. I know a good realtor and you can't beat the schools in this area. What are you looking at for living accomadations. PM me if interested and I'll pass on my realtor's information.

My first thought was...How does your son feel about moving to a new school for his Sr. year? My kids would have been very upset at the prospect of that happening.

My son offered to pack. He really hopes I get it. Last year when I was offered a job in AK in the Yukon Flats school district I asked him what he thought about it and he said he could have us ready to go in a couple of hours. I'm lucky, he is just like me and always looking for a new adventure. He knows the friends he has here he's grown up with, and they will still be here later.
AWVRose I'm PMing you.

I consider where I live in the county. We have 3 acres that are partially wooded. I live in Bealeton. There's 1 major intersection that I'm near, but it's really a small farming community.

One of the reasons were out here, is that it was one of the few places to get several acres at a "reasonable" price.

WOW, I would suggest you not come out as far as Fauquier if you're gonna need to be downtown in DC everyday. If you'd like, I can send you a copy of the Washington Post for you to look through. Also, if you call the chamber of commerce for the area's your thinking about and tell them you're moving to the area, they'll send you a bunch of free information on housing and stuff. Sometimes I do that when I'm going on vacation to an area to get an idea of what else is available in the area.

Thank I'll PM my address to you. I'm going to start looking at the map and getting commerce numbers and addresses. Just in case I make it!

Oh yeah.. Bealeton is out there....and would be quite a commute to DC, even taking the back roads and ways.

Downtown DC.. Hmmm *thinking* You're going to want to look in the Crystal City area then...if you need to be that close and Crystal City is expensive. You could also look in Georgetown (also very expensive however) - or even Annandale (outskirts of Fairfax). Chantilly, Centreville - both good places (ask Miss Prissy - she lives near Centreville I believe...) but again, if you do have to go "south" check out the Ft. Belvoir area - its mainly a military area (military base ) so some pretty good deals there and pretty secure given its mainly an MP driven / medical field type of base.

Quantico area is another area but again, you're further south now (moreso than Ft. Belvoir) and a longer commute. - Quantico is also military and home of the Marine Base and FBI.

I didn't get the Fellowship this time around but I did make it to sub-final cut. If I had made one more round I would have been going to DC for an interview. Considering this was my first attempt I'm pleased that I made it so far and next year I'll have longer to work on my application and not have to worry about leaving or taking Steven, and supporting two of us, he'll be off on his own after the next school year. Thank you all for all of your help and I'll be keeping the information and planning just in case!
