What do you do with the poop you scoop from them? Ive looked through a bunch of threads and havent read it anywhere yet. Do you Throw it out in the yard? keep a pail and empty that when it gets full? Walk the scoop out to the grove and toss it?

i dont use poop boards but i do use the deep litter method. i have two turkeys (a tom and a hen) that roost in the same spot every night. you can imagine what the poop pile looks like after 12 hours of them sitting there. im going to start using a kitty litter scoop on their droppings just because it is so much and this time of year i can easily walk it out to the grove, but come winter time that wont be an option and i hate to think of spring thaw if i just toss it out in the yard every morning.

I have two buckets. When one gets full I empty it into the compost bin then hose out the bucket and leave it upside down to dry.
The second bucket goes into play when the first is drying.

I scoop mine into a bucket, and when the bucket is full, it goes into the compost bin, or on the garden. I only put it on the garden between garden clean out (about now) and through December, to give the poop time to break down.

Check with your neighbors/friends to see if they'd like some great fertilizer/source of nitrogen for their gardens or compost.

your compost should be 1/3 of each.
as in what ever you rake off the poop is the 1/3 you start with. then 1/3 of dried wood chips, leaf, pine shavings off the nest box... and 1/3 of wet decaying plants, food, grass clippings. Dump poop on first and cover with the other. No flys, no smell and can be used in a year for anything.

I use dresser drawers then dump them in the chicken yard. We always wanted to build soil for a garden but never did. the pic is aerial view of my chicken run, building is their hut, note the car on road for size.

You could put it in a bucket in the winter, then dump it in the grove of trees when the bucket gets full. Or lots of buckets, if you don't want to dump any of them until spring.
