I was wondering what you do if you ship eggs to someone and they never arrive. Do you offer to replace those or do you usually say once it leaves your hands then it's out of your control? Someone sent some eggs Fri/Sat this past week priority from Ca to In. I haven't received them yet and am not starting to worry a bit. I don't think priority should take this long. I really wanted these eggs but even if I get them in the next day or so I'm worried they won't hatch. What should I do? I told the person I would email them when they arrived but so far nothing. ;( I even bought an extra incubator for them.

Did they send them with delivery confirmation? If so, you should be able to use that number to track them, although I think you need to go to the post office to do so.

It's possible they may come today, since they were shipped Saturday and wouldn't have moved along Sunday. I always request eggs to be shipped monday - wednesday so I don't have to worry about them sitting over a weekend.

I don't think she sent them with DC. I don't think they will come today. Our mailperson has already been here.

If I ship eggs that never arrive (hasn't happened yet) I would replace them, but that is a personal choice on my part. I use Delivery Confirmation on all my packages, so I know if and when they arrive. You can check Delivery Confirmation numbers at www.USPS.GOV , however, D.C. only requires the packages be scanned at delivery time. Some processing centers do scan, but not all. My P.O. scans when I ship because I ask them to do so. ANY P.O. should do so if you request it. SO, any eggs I ship can be tracked as to when I ship and at least when they are delivered, and sometimes in between. If you paid for eggs and never received them, I would request the Del Conf. number from the seller, and if they can't provide it, then I would ask them how they would like to handle it. If they say "tough luck", then I would file a dispute with PayPal for goods not received, and try and get my money back. Good luck!

Priority mail is not always2-3 days.It took 5 days to get from Utah to Ohio. I thought My eggs were lost in the mail the guy replaced them and the second batch took 5 days also.
Check with usps.com your zip from theirs and it will tel you how many days it will take.
Ask for a tracking number.
Just because they said they were mailed on that day doesn't mean the PO picked them up that day.

This happened to a box I sent to NE from Florida. It did eventually arrive but nine days later (I guess it got lost in the mail). Unfortunately I did not purchase a delivery confirmation (won't make that mistake again). Anyway my buyer finally got the eggs (2 doz.) so we agreed to try and hatch and see how many hatched. She only got three out of 24 eggs so I sent her another 2 doz. at no cost to her. This is just how I would want to be treated if this happened to me so I try to do the same for the buyer. She did offer to pay shipping but I did not think it was right that she should have to pay twice.

Again this is just what I did.

Actually packages do move on Sunday. I shipped eggs on Sat and they arrived on Monday. If there was ANY type of error in zip code or even something like street vs drive it can slow them down. It might make a difference in hatch rate but if the eggs were pretty fresh 3-4 days old when shipped you should still get a decent hatch rate, all things being equal. I would most likely replace the eggs but I would ask for postage. I don't have out of pocket for the eggs but postage is a hit. Not the sellers fault nor the buyers so it usually work out that both parties absorb some of the loss.

I always purchase delivery confirmation on eggs I ship.

I've twice had eggs take 8 days to reach me when I purchased eggs. Both times I did have some hatch...not a great hatch, but at least some did.

This is how I would handle it.

I had ordered eggs from someone on here that said they'd shipped them, but I never got them and they refused to return emails, so after 3 weeks of waiting I filed a claim with paypal and got my money back.

Hello I would contact the postoffice to see if they have them there just sitting , Only Because That happened to me 2 times , This was the excuse the post office gave me We didnt want to leave them on the porch in the heat... Florida
Well Lets see When I get them they would go in a incubator of 99.5 So that tells what they all know , I only ordered 2 times the first time took a long time to get and I was worried also and it was priority , I paid for insurance and guess what Post office wont insure eggs !!! Yea So I was a bit dissapointed I paid 1.70 For nuthing , Learned my lesson , The second one I ordered I Got super duper fast So Im not sure what the hold up really is But now adays everything should be haveing delivery conf .. and if the seller does everything on line everything has delivery conf #'s .. Hope it helps Jean
