Question for those who ship eggs.....

one thing I would do is read through her feedback. If she has sold very many and her feedback has been very good, then you can probably bet they were shipped, and act ac cordingly. If her feedback is not so good, there have probably been problems in the past.

Thanks. I know she sells on eggbid but I don't think there are any auctions on there right now. I think I will see if she has anymore eggs in a week or two. If not then I'll ask her to refund my money.

Actually, Delivery Confirmation costs 19 cents when you print labels online (which I do about 5-10 items a day with.)

When I ship eggs I always get DC, and I also ask my buddies at my local PO to scan in for me (which they are not obligated to do, but they know me so are nice to me.)

If I have a buyer who gets a wretched hatch I will replace with more eggs for just the cost of shipping. I can't control hatching conditions, but I do want happy customers!

When you us USPS clicknship to print your PRIORITY online labels, delivery confirmation is free. On Paypal, 1st class postage with delivery confirmation is 19 cents, with priority, delivery confirmation is free.

I would ask for a refund now on these eggs. You have not received the eggs. The del conf is for exactly that, delivery confirmation, nothing has been delivered.

If you wait too long for this lady to get her one chicken laying again it may be too late to file a claim.

Quite right.

Regular mail DC costs 19 cents when the label is printed online, but for Priority labels printed online it's free.

Thanks everyone. I think I am going to ask for a refund and if she doesn't give one then I'll file a claim with paypal.

I have two incubators up and running and the one has nothing in it due to not receiving the eggs. The other bator has a group of eggs in it but only one so far looks like it's developing the rest are infertile.
Thanks for all your input! You're a great group of people!!!!

I hate to keep harping on this, but just because an egg doesn't develop, especially a shipped egg, it doesn't mean it is infertile. Other events can keep eggs from developing.

Quite correct. But a good eBay seller will offer to send another batch of eggs for just the cost of shipping, and shouldn't need a PayPal case opened to do so.

Update....the person was kind enough to refund the full amount. She didn't have any replacement eggs or else she would have sent some and I would have paid the shipping. Now here is another twist. The eggs came today. Is it too late to incubate? They were sent around the 19th/20th.
