Question for you 'fancy photographers'

I have a fairly good camera now, but I would love to get a better one. I just don't have a clue where to start looking! Anyone have any suggestions of a really good camera that isn't, say, over $400? Thanks!

Hi, I have a canon EOS 1100D which takes fantastic pictures and is great at capturing characters ! It was £259.00 off amazon. I'm in the UK though so I don't know what the price would be like in the US. If your looking for good cameras I think Canon is a pretty good place to start
