Think at this point he just want to hear them sing. The neighbors from 4 and they are much more vocal than yours. Really the only time we heard much was from them was the roo. The girls are super quite and right next door the girls are lets say chatty.

So they are already hearing the song and if it mattered, playing it on an audio device won't matter.
 
There are inexpensive solar lights that will stay on a bit after dusk which doesn't really matter but the amount of light at roost height is the important matter.
 
They are younger, also the it sounds different that what we have heard. I would expect that different breeds and individuals sound different. Now I'm curious. I'm going to try I'll be back.
 
WOW! They are really loud, especially the buffs. The blacks where not as vocal but showed interest. The buffs ran to the nesting box to look. I thought that was strange because I wasn't by the boxes. That was neat to see. I'm going to try to record it when he gets home. Thank you for helping. I wasn't so sure about investing in the chickens but it has been fun for the family and a learning experience. Not just about chickens but things like working thorough the plans/ design of the light.
