Question: If your hubby says....

Be careful! The quoted comment is EXACTLY what it means! Next thing you the post office will be calling you to pick up chicks you don't remember ordering!

yep, sounds like my old roomated who "hates cats and thinks theyre vile and horrible animals". i spied him snuggling them one too many times...

LOL! My DH took a liking to a polish chick I hatched out and named him Billy Idol "because of the hair" and has randomly sent me texts requesting pictures of Billy so he can show them around work.

I think it means that he was telling his DD, "Look at this ugly chicken!" Then DD said, "GOOD LORD! That thing is the Ringo Starr of Chickens!" Thus the name Ringo.

That's my take anyway.

I always tell my wife that I hate her miniature pincher, but when I go anywhere during he day while she is working, the is my travel partner. We don't let her know though, to keep my tough guy persona up. I'm sure she is completely fooled.....

I think it means he is a typical husband! I don't know how many times my husband has told me: This is the last thing I'm doing for those chickens!! Only to turn around and see him doing something else. I think their need to "fix things" overcomes their resentment towards your new loves.

Haha, you're making headway, my friend! Sounds just like my husband!

He is constantly giving me a hard time about the chickens, then just yesterday we were standing out by the coop, watching one of my mama hens and her 5 little babies running around. I was going on about selling most of them to some friends down the road and I heard him mumble under his breath..."Or we could just keep them..."

I almost fell over! Of course I couldn't get him to repeat it, but I heard it!

Keep up the good work!

I have to say that I have just gotten into raising some chickens for the fresh organic eggs. This website has been a wonderful resource for the questions that I have had. I do have to share that my husband's reaction has apparently been typical :) He didn't want the chickens and "allowed" me to go get some after realizing that the neighbor's chickens were being cooped up more. (we are allowed to keep any eggs that they lay in our barn) I brought home four adorable chicks and have caught him looking in on them and really enjoyed holding a chicken for the first time. I have to laugh at the thought that next year I might be "allowed" to get a few more.

Hah! It took me 5 years of marriage (we've been married 6 years) to convince my hubby that I really 'needed' some chickens. Now I've had hundreds of chickens in the past, but hubby is a real city boy and had a hard time understanding my need. Last year he finally caved. Now he's trying to name them all (I've never named my chickens) and he gets up early every morning and waits for it to get light enough that he can go out and check on the babies. He will sit and talk to them for the longest time, and insists that they have to have their 'leafs' at least once a day. I grow greens for the chickens because I can't free range here due to dog problems. He bugs me all the time to make popcorn for them because he thinks it's so funny watching them hoover it all up.
I think reluctant hubbys make the best addicts! Once you get them over to the dark side they have no control.
