What was your first paying job?

My first real, paying job was at LeCroy Research Systems in Palo Alto, CA. I was a "rework technician" for hardware engineering.

After babysitting, it was a brief stint at Dunkin Donuts one summer, and then a couple years at a One Hour Photo lab.

I was paid to haul hay and do farm work as a pre-teen/teenager
I spent 1 summer as a plumber’s assistant
I worked at Wendy’s and Rand McNally between high school and college

Kennel hand/animal attendant at a vet clinic.

Shoveling chicken manure and cleaning chicken coops. I refuse to tell how much I was paid. Then my best friend and I mowed a large cemetery - took us all day - $25 each - big money back then.

My grandfather paid us in silver dollars to clear his pasture of rocks. It was so many cents per bucket we unloaded onto his flatbed, and it was such a great feeling when I'd finally hauled in enough buckets to earn the first full dollar. Each grandkid averaged about two dollars a day.
