How the heck do you guys remember so much!? I barely remember what I did yesterday

My earliest memories were both pretty major events in my life.

I remember watching the Space Shuttle Challenger blowing up when I was four years old

I was 12. I've written about that before. I'll never forget it.

I remember

• my father coming back from overseas deployment
• a young man getting arrested at the zoo
• a man describing the parts of a turtle's shell at the same zoo
• my foot falling asleep as we were crossing the bridge while driving home from church
• my aunt and cousin coming to visit; it was the last time I saw them for almost twenty years

I was about 3 when all this happened.

I have a shocking memory. Certain things just stuck though. Like getting an MRI (i think it was that) was mildly traumatizing to little me

I remember my dad changing my diapers. I'm guessing I was about 1 and a half...?

Getting picked up by a woman on the South Street Bridge in Philly at 3 yrs old and being taken to the police station, sitting on the desk with a police hat and lollipop till mom and dad sprung me. 1954, things were different back then. Always was a wanderer.

A big yellow balloon my BIL got me for my third birthday, spending that summer with Donald my imprinted duck, seeing a flock of performing Birmingham Rollers somewhere around that time. I cried when we left from seeing them - that I remember, because I am not a crier.

I remember Lu being born when I was almost four, mainly because that was my first ride in an elevator.
