I mean, I don’t even need to see the speed limit signs, so why bother.
Force of habit for me. many years wiping down monitors in labs and being the general "house tech guy" for my family. That was the manufacturer directions for cleaning the TV screen. If it's good enough for the TV, ought to be good enough for a monitor.

More than one way to skin a cat. I can say I have literally cleaned thousands monitors with 50% alcohol and never a problem. And, quite a bit of tvs as well.Force of habit for me. many years wiping down monitors in labs and being the general "house tech guy" for my family.
I know the alcohol mix works fine too, I just don't keep a bottle of mixed handy (lots of 90% around for resin printing). I've always got a spray bottle of water around for painting.More than one way to skin a cat. I can say I have literally cleaned thousands monitors with 50% alcohol and never a problem. I do it about once a month, full power off and I let it sit for 10 min or so after before I fire it back up. I've seen people cook things off by dusting them live. I am not afriad to go after them with an air compressor if they've sat for a minute either, then hand-wipe/dustvac them if needed. We don't have as much water in them as you get, but I still drain my compressor too.I don't like canned air for cleaning computers, though, because not enough pressure to really get everything out of the fans and heat sinks. Plus, if you don't hold the can upright you can moisture.
Edit to add: I can see it being okay if cleaned often enough so it doesn't get so deep. And, someone that knows to keep the can upright. But, it is crazy how desktops in offices etc.. get so dirty and you can't trust the person(s) using it with a can of air, or even to use it.
It looks like Pig Pen just walked by when you blow some of these out around here lol The ones that are kept under the desk, in the so called place for it, are the worse. It is like, damn, it was just blown out a couple months ago!I do it about once a month, full power off and I let it sit for 10 min or so after before I fire it back up. I ended up being "house tech guy" here. Little siblings mess up the computer they have to share? I have to fix it. I still need to set up local VNC so I can revert any unwanted changes.Force of habit for me. many years wiping down monitors in labs and being the general "house tech guy" for my family.
