Question of the Day - Monday, February 19th, 2024

I ride occasionally. My kids both ride our pony. Part of why we're looking for some land is so we can have horses at home. Daddy wants a GV or a Friesian. Or a large riding couch like a percheron or belgian draught.

Mom won’t let me. Says that unless I want to make a career out of it, it’s best not to hurt my body by riding horses.
She’s all for me doing point work in ballet though. Which will destroy my feet, and be more painful probably.
My daughter is a gymnast. Riding is a LOT less abusive on her bod. I would put ballet right up there with gymnastics. Maybe not as much high power impact, but it'll wreck you over time too.

Yep.
I think it’s because my mom would rather see me dance and be graceful, than do something less graceful.

Wait… you have a pony!?!?!?!
Yes? We've had a pony for years. She's a dutch warmblood/welsh pony cross and she's 23 now. Her name is Emma. My daughter hasn't really ridden her in a few years because of her gym schedule, but we lease her out to our barn to be used for kids lessons. She's super gentle and loves to work, so they work her 4-5 days a week. My daughter goes out at least one day a week and lunges or rides her bareback and just hangs out.
