My uncle used to say, "I'd rather be lucky than smart." I think he had some luck in surviving flying a fighter plane in WWII and Korea. He said he was in the air when they got the news that WWII was over, and his first thought was, "Wow! The war is over and I'm still alive! How lucky!"
Oh smart, all the way. If you're smart you can make your own luck. But you can be lucky and not be smart enough to know how to put it to good advantage. You could do stupid things with your good luck. Look at Elvis. And a lot of other "lucky" people.
