I prefer washcloths for everything except washing cups - then I like the sponges on the long handle.

I have read to microwave them for I think it was 1 minute or maybe just 30 seconds and it’s supposed to sanitize them or boil them.

If we are talking in the shower, I prefer body poofs but will use a wash cloth. Doing dishes is always a dishcloth, sponges get gross and can't be washed

Yeah, what @ShrekDawg said, you can sanitize a sponge in the microwave. But I use a dishcloth (dishrag, washrag) in the kitchen and also washcloth in the shower. Separate sets, of course! I don't like sponges bc you can't hang them up to dry and anything that doesn't dry gets ... funky, mildewy. Especially here where humidity is an unpleasant fact of life.
