Question of the Day - Sunday, August 18th, 2024

I got stitches in my head, the back of my head, when I was two, also. I never got a stuffy. I need to have a talk with my mom...
My bear, Ted E. Bear, was a gift from my much older half brother when I was born. He also bought me my first bicycle.

Her name is Miss Kitty...
My Uncle had sent her to my Grandmother from Italy during WW2. Miss Kitty originally was a hand puppet. When I was an infant my grandparents came to my rescue and raised me. There was no extra money for toys. Miss Kitty became my stuffed friend. Miss Kitty must be around 80 years old.View attachment 3922080
I found out later in life that money was tight. So it wasn't wasted on me by my mom for clothes because I'd grow or toys that would get broken or out grown. My dad also didn't have a lot of clothes or things. My mom came from a more wealthy family and looking back I can see any extra money went to keeping her content in life.

I wish they would have just told me.🤷‍♀️

I still have the stuffed dog my grandmother gave me when I was 4, 58 years ago. He has a jingle bell inside one of his ears. With a 4 year old's logic, I named him Blackie Jingle Ear. Thanks, Grandma. I think of you when I see Blackie.

Really like my Breyer horses too. They were given away to younger family members when I went to college...

Mrs. Beasley doll. 5 years old and I carried Mrs. Beasley EVERYWHERE. Naturally I'd lost her glasses. Then, one fateful day in 1971 my awful cousin Bill flushed her down the toilet. I dont know how he did it! But he did. My dad heard me screaming bloody murder and he and my uncle (Bill's dad) came down and boy, Bill got it from both of them. My dad because of the plumbing issue, my uncle for making the only girl in the family *to that point* cry.

Years later we found out Bill is on the Autism Spectrum. Autism (any mental health matters really) was not explored for the everyday child in the 1970's. I'm glad there have been so many advancements and knowledge discovered since then. He still shouldn't have flushed Mrs. Beasley though.

I had a few favorites, so it's kinda hard to pick just one, but I don't have any of them anymore except for one that sits in my headboard. That one is an Aurora wolf that I had named Rosey. The rest of my favorites were either given away or donated at different points in time as I out grew them (and started collecting Adore chickens).

Were you able to get her out of there?
