Question of the Day - Sunday, July 27th, 2025

I hit a bear with my van while driving around dusk a few years ago here. I saw it dash across the road median but I was going about 65 & couldn't stop in time. It rolled down embankment on side of road, so not sure if it survived or not, but it left huge claw marks on my bumper

Yes to both. Black bears, brown bears, grizzlies, moose, elk, reindeer, bobcat, lynx, mountain lions, mountain goats, mountain sheep, bald eagles, golden eagles, at least 4 different types of hawks, and a whole slew of fluffy critters further down the food chain.
I need to amend this. I've seen reindeer at a farm outside of Anchorage but in the wild, they're caribou. Those I've seen in Denali.

No to seeing a bear first hand in the wild (I've only seen bears in captivity) but if the bear is the largest land carnivore in America, then I have seen first hand the largest land carnivore in Africa, in the wild, which is the lion.

And no to ever seeing a moose neither wild nor in captivity, but if the moose is the largest in America, then I have seen the largest in Africa, in the wild, which is the eland.
