Yep. Phones are computers, so I was including them in that question.Phones too. You should be getting updates for your phone periodically from your carrier.
Windows 11 is terrible as far as I'm concerned...I update when I'm forced, and not before. Except for most security updates, any "upgrades" are usually the beginning of a headache.
I'll add that if you insist on using old tech (like Windows XP and the such) not to take it online, especially if it's got personal stuff on it.Real talk. Update your stuff, kids. Security updates aren't there to steal your money. They're there to keep bad guys from stealing your money by exploiting flaws in your computer and phone's operating systems. If you don't trust your device to keep you safe, then stop using it. Far better than continuing to use un-patched devices with known exploits used in the wild.
For those of you who choose to use older tech, make sure it can still get security updates. If it cannot, you're risking having your personal information stolen. I understand budgets are a thing, but one of the first questions you should always ask is "how much longer will this device get security updates?" when choosing to upgrade. There are stories every day about people who'd had their identity stolen or how various government agencies are breaking up identity theft rings. It's real. The risk is real. And the banks and government agencies aren't there to help YOU, they're looking to protect their own interests first.
Don't be an accidental victim. Patch your stuff.
