I made a mistake here recently with a boat load of POTS lines used for faxes. They had jacked the price up 300%, and I was talked into going voip for them, which cut them to a fraction of the cost. I mean fraction of the cost of a POTS line even before they started jacking the price up. Turns out voip lines don't work very well for faxes, though. They are fine for voice, but the fax is another story entirely. I am actively in the middle of this mess right now. Some faxes come through fine, others don't come at all, and still others send partial faxes such as a 50 page fax and you get 5 pages of it.
From what I have been told by some is that the companies are trying to compress them to save bandwidth which in turn saves them money. So, that will work for voice calls, but it doesn't cut it with faxes. So, it is a mess and has me stressed out trying to deal with it. Making conducting business very hard across our 4 businesses.
