I'm just as likely to do that in broad daylight. Dark makes me more careful.

Having worked for many years in darkrooms (literally cannot see your hand in front of your face), I am very comfortable in the dark. I know to reach out for tactile landmarks and to step carefully.

And to step high over thresholds to avoid tripping over the light barrier.
