What do you use for bedding?
How often do you change it?

I use straw.I change it when it gets dirty.

do you ever have any problems with mites, parasites...ect?

No.I usually don't have problems with mites and lice.I try to keep things clean and put down sevin dust once in a while.

In my chicken coops and turkey coop I use sand as the bedding. So much easier to clean and they love it to take dust baths and plucking around in it. Just get you a cat litter scooper and put sand in the bottom of the coop about 2-3 inches deep and your set. So easy to clean. Also, every now and then put some Diotomaceous (not sure about spelling) earth down and that even keeps the flies out in the summer plus all mites.
